In January 2007 the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE) regulations came into force. WEEE is a new
piece of legislation that aims to reduce the amount of
electrical equipment which ends up in landfill, by ensuring
it is collected, treated and recycled. The regulations
affect all businesses that handle electrical goods, whether
they are producers, retailers or importers. These
regulations require producers and importers of Electrical
and Electronic Equipment - EEE - to pay for the recycling
costs at end-of-life. These companies must register with a
compliance scheme.
Bradley smokers are classified as EEE for the purposes of
the legislation.
